Biography
Marco Craig, was born in Milan in 1970. He lives and works in Milan, Italy.
He has been a professional photographer and a freelance journalist since 1990. He is the son of the theatre actor Mimmo Craig. After a long collaboration with the prestigious Studio Ballo & Ballo, his activity has led him to collaborate with important fashion and design magazines, creating pieces and covers for: Wallpaper, Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, Brutus Japan and many others . Attracted by the world of advertising, he is noticed by the most important Italian and foreign advertising agencies, signing and winning international awards for well-known brands such as Audi, Lavazza, S.Pellegrino, Cassina, Vodafone, Montblanc etc.
In the world of Beauty he has created images for: L’Oreal, Wella, Kiko, Acqua di Parma, and Nivea.
Today, in addition to advertising, fashion and beauty projects, he is responsible for the image of various artists in the world of music and cinema and works on personal projects related to the world of art. Between 2015-2016 – thanks to Almostthere and Leica he worked on the “DO NOT CROSS” project where he documented the New York Marathon from the inside, running it with a camera in hand. The idea was to take portraits of the driving force that makes this race special: the public. The result of these shots is a portrait of a contemporary world. Craig captured the New York melting pot: different ethnicities, emotions, social classes, neighbourhoods.
In the 42 km of the Marathon run, the camera went beyond this distance. This is the first time a professional photographer had done anything of the kind.
In 2016 “DO NOT CROSS” was published by Damiani Editore, translated in two languages and distributed in Italy and the United States. Again in 2016 Leica organised two exhibitions of the same project in Milan and Rome.
In 2018 started the project “WITNESS 1:1”.
In 2022 he began the new project “Contemporary Fossilis”; still in progress today.
